Numerous Bulls Receive Preseason Accolades
Senior cornerback Gemara Williams garners attention from various publications
BUFFALO, NY -- Several players on the University at Buffalo football team have received recognition in prominent preseason college football previews.
 | | Gemara Williams |
Cornerback Gemara Williams (Oak Park, MI/Brother Rice) received the most accolades, earning spots on a number of preseason all-conference lists. The UB senior was placed on Street & Smith’s All-Mid-American Conference first-team defense and Lindy’s All-MAC second-team defense. He also earned a spot on CollegeFootballNews.com’s first-team defense, and on the publication’s list of the top 30 players in the MAC.
Williams is coming off a sound junior season during which he shifted from safety to start all 11 games at cornerback, anchoring a pass defense that ranked third in the MAC (213.5 passing yards allowed per game). Individually, Williams led the Bulls with 10 passes defended.
 | | Zack Love | Left tackle Zack Love (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven), also a senior, made Phil Steele’s All-MAC second-team offense as well as the preseason publication’s list of the top 60 offensive tackles in the nation. Love was also named to CollegeFootballNews.com’s All-MAC second-team offense.
Sophomore punter Ben Woods (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) was named preseason second-team All-MAC in both Lindy’s and CollegeFootballNews.com’s previews.
 | | Aaron Sanders |
Senior defensive tackle Rob Schroeder (East Rochester, NY/East Rochester) earned a place on Phil Steele’s All-MAC first-team defense and in the preseason publication’s list of the top 65 defensive tackles in the country.
Fellow classmate and defensive lineman Aaron Sanders (Clarence, NY/St. Joseph’s) made CollegeFootballNews.com’s All-MAC second-team defense and Phil Steele’s All-MAC third-team defense.
UB’s fall practices begin August 8. The Bulls’ season gets underway Thursday, September 1 at Connecticut.
