Cornerback Gemara Williams (Oak Park, MI/Brother Rice) received the most accolades, earning spots on a number of preseason all-conference lists. The UB senior was placed on Street & Smith’s All-Mid-American Conference first-team defense and Lindy’s All-MAC second-team defense. He also earned a spot on CollegeFootballNews.com’s first-team defense, and on the publication’s list of the top 30 players in the MAC.

Williams is coming off a sound junior season during which he shifted from safety to start all 11 games at cornerback, anchoring a pass defense that ranked third in the MAC (213.5 passing yards allowed per game). Individually, Williams led the Bulls with 10 passes defended.

Sophomore punter Ben Woods (Hermitage, PA/Hickory) was named preseason second-team All-MAC in both Lindy’s and CollegeFootballNews.com’s previews.
