BUFFALO, NY – Former Buffalo quarterback Chad Salisbury was honored by the Arena Football League on Monday when he was named to the Al Lucas Hero Team. Salisbury, a member of the Grand Rapids Rampage, was one of eight players named to the team which honors players who have made significant contributions to both their community and to Arena Football.

Salisbury threw for 2,242 yards, completed 62.5 of his passes and amassed 49 touchdowns while throwing only eight interceptions in 2007. During his seven-year career in the Arena Football League, Salisbury has thrown for 11,981 yards and 146 touchdowns while playing for the New England SeaWolves, Toronto Phantoms, Chicago Rush, Columbus Destroyers and Grand Rapids Rampage. He was also voted team MVP for the Rampage in 2006.

Off the field, Salisbury has become an active member of the Grand Rapids community. He works as a substitute teacher at various area schools and coaches the freshman football team at Byron Center High School. Salisbury is also active in the Rampage Passing Clinic, Women’s Football Academy and has taken charge of the Rampage’s Youth Football Program, which works with over 2,500 kids in the community.

Salisbury is the third former Bull to be honored by the AFL this season, joining former UB defensive linemen Rob Schroeder of the Austin Wranglers who was recently named to the Arena Football League All-Rookie Team and defensive back Dahnel Singfield of the Utah Blaze who was named AFL Defensive Player of the Week during week 14.

Salisbury was the UB signal caller in 1997 and 1998, setting the school single-season passing yards record in 1997 by throwing for 2,889 yards. He also ranks fourth in career yards, touchdowns, completions and completion percentage among UB quarterbacks, despite playing only two seasons with the Bulls.
