Buffalo Sets Additional Home Dates For Next Three Football Seasons
The Bulls will take on Gardner-Webb (2009) and Stony Brook (2011) of the Big South football conference and Rhode Island (2010) of the Atlantic 10 conference to guarantee Buffalo six home games each year starting this fall. In all three cases, it will be the first time that Buffalo has played each of the programs. “This is another step in our progression as a football program,” said Warde Manuel, Director of Athletics. “We have a plan to play a minimum of six home games per year and playing these competitive FCS opponents will help us accomplish that goal and create more opportunities for our fans and students to see us at UB Stadium.” The meeting against Gardner-Webb, from Boiling Springs, NC, on Oct. 10, 2009, will be Buffalo’s first against a Big South football opponent. It is also the alma mater of current UB running backs coach Lee Chambers. The Bulls will meet the Rams of Rhode Island – members of the CAA Football Conference – who will visit UB Stadium on Sept. 2, 2010. The meeting with Stony Brook on Sept. 10, 2011 will be Buffalo’s first against one of the three other Division I SUNY (State University of New York) Universities since the Bulls played Albany back in 1988. The addition of these games completes UB’s non-conference schedules for the next three seasons:
