AUSTIN, TX – Former University at Buffalo defensive lineman Rob Schroeder was one of 17 players named to the 2007 Arena Football League All-Rookie Team.

Schroeder, a 2005 graduate of UB, led all rookies in the AFL with 4.5 sacks on the season. He was third amongst all defensive lineman in the AFL with seven pass breakups. With the Austin Wranglers, he led the team in sacks (4.5), tackles for loss (5.0) and blocks (3). Schroeder also made 18.0 tackles, including 16 solo stops. He also had two fumble recoveries, including one for a touchdown. Schroeder and the Wranglers finished the 2007 season with a 4-12 record.

Schroeder is the second UB graduate in as many years to be named to the AFL All-Rookie Team as Dahnel Singfield, then with the New York Dragons, was named to the 2006 squad. Singfield, who was named the AFL Defensive Player of the Week during Week 14, now plays for the Utah Blaze, while former UB quarterback, Chad Salibury, plays for the Grand Rapids Rampage.

In 2005, Schroeder finished first on UB in tackles for loss, recording 13, which resulted in 39 yards lost. He finished his UB career tied for seventh all-time with 31 tackles for loss. Schroeder also was tops on the defensive unit in quarterback hurries with six. Schroeder earned MAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following the Bulls’ victory over Kent State in 2005. Schroeder finished with 37 tackles during his senior season, giving him 120 for his career, and also had 9.5 sacks during his time with the Blue and White.

After leaving Buffalo, Schroeder began his professional football career in 2006 as a member of the Hamilton TigerCats in the Canadian Football League.
