Bulls Football Adds Two PlayersBUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head football coach Jim Hofher has announced the signings of two players who will join the 2001 recruiting class. Scott McMahan (Huntington Beach, CA/Santa Ana JC) and Deonne McClelland (Mesa, AZ/Scottsdale CC) have signed national letters of intent and will attend UB this fall. McMahan, 5-10, 170, is a punter who was an All-Mission Conference selection last year at Santa Ana Junior College. He earned two letters and also played quarterback for coach Dave Ogas. Last year he averaged 38.1 yards per punt and had 19 kicks downed inside the 20-yard line. McClelland, meanwhile, is a 6-1, 195-pound safety who chose Buffalo over Kansas, New Mexico State and Indiana State. An All-Conference selection at Scottsdale Community College, he earned two letters for coach Ken Grovando. "We are pleased that these two young men are joining our football progam," said Hofher, who begins his first season at Buffalo on August 30 when the Bulls battle Rutgers at UB Stadium. "They will add needed talent at their positions which will help us be even more competitive." Incoming players report on August 4 for fall drills. |
