Former Bull Dahnel Singfield Named To AFL All-Rookie Team
In 11 games, Singfield recorded 63.5 tackles, one tackle for loss, seven interceptions for 132 yards, and nine pass breakups. Two of those interceptions were returned for a touchdown. “It was my goal this season so it feels good to meet my goal,” said Singfield. “I am honored and I’ll aim to make higher goals next year.” Singfield moved to left cornerback for the Bulls in 2002 after spending the first three seasons as a wide receiver. In 2000, Singfield played in 11 games, starting five. He recorded four touchdowns, while also serving on kickoff and punt return duties. After sitting out the 2001 season, Singfield played in 11 of 12 games at left corner in 2002, recording 27 tackles and two sacks. He finished third on the team with 10 pass breakups and recorded his first career interception in a 16-12 loss against Kent State. Prior to joining the Dragons, Singfield spent two seasons with the Memphis Xplorers of the af2, being named ADT Defensive Player of the Year following the 2005 season. Singfield led the af2 in interceptions with 12 and 62 pass breakups were 20 more than any other player in the league. During his rookie year with the Xplorers, Singfield was named to the all-league second team. Singfield was a 1998 graduate of Dunbar High School in Baltimore, MD, where he earned three letters and served as a captain during his senior year. Singfield saw time at wide receiver, free safety, punter, tailback and punt returner while helping the Poets to an appearance in the state semifinal in 1996 and the state championship in 1997. Singfield and the New York Dragons finished the 2006 regular season with a 10-6 record and a 72-69 loss to the Georgia Force in the Wild Card round of the 2006 AFL Playoffs. |
