Roth Signs Deal With Kansas City ChiefsBUFFALO, NY - Former University at Buffalo football standout Josh Roth (Conewango Valley, NY/Pine Valley) signed a two-year free agent contract with the Kansas City Chiefs today, it was announced by Chiefs President Carl Peterson. No further terms of the agreement were disclosed.
Roth, 6-0, 238, earned four letters at UB and is one of the great fullbacks in Bulls' football history. The All-Western New York product is currently seventh in school history in rushing yards (1,488) after playing in 44 games (starting 29) during his UB career. His 330 carries rank eighth all-time, and he scored 14 touchdowns for the Blue and White. As a senior, Roth rushed for a team-high 530 yards and added 16 receptions for 103 yards. He went over 100 yards versus both Virginia and Hofstra that season. Upon graduation from UB, Roth was signed as a free agent by the Buffalo Bills and spent the 2000 season on their practice squad. He was released by the Bills during last year's training camp and also spent time in the Buffalo Destroyers camp this spring. Roth was an All-State performer at Pine Valley High School and was a finalist for the
Connolly Cup, given to Western New York's top player, as a senior. He joins former Bulls
Ed Ellis (San Diego Chargers),
Drew Haddad (Indianapolis Colts),
Noah Burroughs (Jacksonville Jaguars) and
Omari Jordan (Baltimore Ravens) with current NFL teams. Another UB free agent,
Bob Dzvonick, was released by the Cincinnati Bengals after their rookie minicamp after failing his physical. |
