BUFFALO, NY – A day after University at Buffalo football players Trevor Scott and Jamey Richard were selected in the NFL Draft, punter Ben Woods became the third UB player to join an NFL team as he signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns.

Woods capped a stellar career by setting the school record for punts (281) and punt yards (11,053) and ranks second in school history in punt average (39.3). In 2007, he made it to the semifinal round of voting for the Ray Guy Award, given to the nation’s top punter.

For his career, Woods had 55 punts downed inside the 20 and ranks third in Mid-American Conference history in punting yards.

Woods signing comes a day after Trevor Scott was drafted by the Oakland Raiders and Jamey Richard was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts.
