BUFFALO, NY - Head coach Turner Gill and the UB football team will wrap up its spring practice season with its 15th and final practice, the annual Blue-White scrimmage, set for Saturday, April 22 at 2:00 pm at UB Stadium. Last season, the White got the better of the Blue side, 50-24, at Walter Kunz Stadium.

There has been a new energy buzzing around UB Stadium over the last three weeks of spring practice as Gill and his assistants have been preparing the team for the 2006 season.

With a new coaching staff there are many questions to be answered, including several key positions for the upcoming year. Gill will use this as an opportunity to see what his players can do in a game atmosphere.

“I’m looking forward to the Blue and White Game," said Gill. "Hopefully, we get a little bit of the game environment. It won’t be quite like a true game. We’ll split them up on offense and defense and get some plays run from that standpoint, but at least it will be in a game environment where there won’t be any coaches on the field. They just have to go and get out there and see what they can do.”

Due to injuries on both sides, it will not be a true scrimmage, but predetermined situations where both the offense and defense will be eligible to earn points.

Joe Cerminara (Lewiston, NY/Lewiston-Porter), who was the standout player of last year's scrimmage with 104 yards rushing and three touchdown runs, will be back on the White side this year.

Throughout the spring, Gill has been impressed with freshman quarterback Drew Willy (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), who has shown excellent composure in the huddle despite his young age. On the defensive side, Kareem Byrom (New Brunswick, NJ/New Brunswick) has been an early standout that has shown much promise to the coaching staff.

The scrimmage is free to the public and after the game fans will be able to meet the players and coaches.

The Bulls open their 2006 season on Thursday, August 31 as they host Temple at 7:00 pm.
