White Holds Off Blue, 19-17

Defense dominates most of the action in annual Blue-White football scrimmage

BUFFALO, NY - The White team used a trio of interceptions to down the Blue team, 19-17, in the annual Blue-White football scrimmage on Wednesday night at UB Stadium.

In a modified scoring format, the White team scored nine points off of the turnovers and also blocked a field goal attempt worth another three points while dominating most of the action. The Blue got both of their touchdowns late on a one-yard touchdown run by leading rusher

The defense dominated the early portion of the scrimmage, stopping the Blue on its first nine possessions before Dallas Pelz (Holland, NY/St. Francis) booted a 22-yard field goal. The key play in the drive was a 40-yard scramble by redshirt frosh quarterback P.J. Piskorik (Swoyersville, PA/Wyoming Valley West).

The defense had a 2-0 lead after two three and out stops before sophomore cornerback Darren Hicks (Worthington, OH/Worthington-Kilbourne) jumped in front of a Piskorik pass and returned it

Other standouts for the defense were junior defensive end Demetrius Austrum (Coral Springs, FL/Taravella) who had four solo stops and a pair of quarterback sacks; junior Obadiah Harris (Chillicothe, OH/Chillicothe) with three solos, a tackle for loss and a pass breakup and junior
