BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo football team will play its annual Blue White Scrimmage at UB Stadium on Saturday, April 14. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 pm. Admission to the game is free and the gates open at 12:30 pm.

In addition to getting an early look at the 2007 UB football squad, fans will enjoy $1 hot dogs, an inflatable obstacle course for the kids and the first 250 fans will receive a Bulls souvenir cup with free soda. In addition, fans interested in season tickets with have the opportunity to select their seat for the 2007 season. An autograph session will follow the game.

Due to a smaller roster, it will not be a true scrimmage, but predetermined situations where both the offense and defense will be eligible to earn points.

This will mark the second spring scrimmage for second-year head coach Turner Gill. Last season, the Blue (defense) came back to defeat the White (offense), 62-53.

Gill has been impressed with the play of the Bulls this spring. Defensively, he has liked the development of defensive end Trevor Scott (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam). “He is an outstanding football player,” Gill said. “He now has that one year under his belt at defensive end and now there is no hesitation. He understands the position and has played it a full 12 games. He has done well and I anticipate that he will continue to do well.”

Offensively, Gill has been impressed with the play of quarterback Drew Willy (Randolph, NJ/Randolph). “Drew is doing really well,” Gill said. “He really understands our offense.”

Saturday’s scrimmage will also give fans their first opportunity to see Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph’s Collegiate) at quarterback. Roosevelt, who had an impressive freshman campaign as a wide receiver, returns to the position where he earned All-Western New York accolades and was the Buffalo News co-Player of the Year as a senior in high school.

The scrimmage is free to the public and the gates open at 12:30 pm.

The Bulls will open their 2007 season on Thursday, August 30 at Rutgers.
