Bulls Football Signs Three More

List of signees grows to 22 with addition of three junior college transfers

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo head football coach Craig Cirbus announced that three more players - all junior college transfers - have signed national letters of intent and will join the Bulls' football program this fall.

The three players are quarterback Adam Johnson (Alta Loma, CA/Chaffey JC), offensive lineman John Nolan (Lenexa, KS/Fort Scott JC) and safety Bobby Johnson (Trabuco Hills, CA/Orange Coast CC). They bring the total number of signees for the 2000 football season to 22.

Adam Johnson is a 6-5, 210-pound quarterback who competed one season at Chaffey Junior College in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

He started at quarterback at Etiwanda HS and was also the senior class president, student-body president and was a National Scholar-Athlete award winner in 1997-98. Johnson also played basketball, tennis and founded the golf team at Etiwanda. His father played football at Tennessee.

Nolan, 6-3, 275, was a first-team 6A All-State selection at center at Shawnee Mission West HS in suburban Kansas City before enrolling at Fort Scott Junior College. As a senior he helped the Vikings to a regional title and was a first-team All-Conference selection as an offensive and defensive lineman. He was also a Kansas City All-Metro first-team selection.

At Fort Scott, Nolan started at center for the Greyhounds and helped the team to the 1999 Mineral Water Bowl while being named Offensive Player of the Week four times by his coaching staff.

Bobby Johnson, 6-2, 210 pounds, was a two-year standout at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA, playing safety. He recorded 64 tackles in his first season and had two interceptions. Last year he was a first-team Mission Conference selection after racking up 98 tackles and four interceptions.

He also was named to the JC Grid-Wire Academic All-American team for his work in the classroom. Johnson helped lead Trabuco Hills to a federation championship in high school.

The Bulls open spring practice on Thursday, March 30th and will play the annual Blue-White Spring Scrimmage on Saturday, April 22nd at 4:00 pm at UB Stadium.
