House will serve as safeties coach

BUFFALO, NY - Head coach Turner Gill continued to shape his coaching staff by adding Matt House as safeties coach. House previously served as the defensive line coach at Gardner-Webb University.

At Gardner-Webb, House was responsible for implementing a 4-3 defensive front while coaching the lineman. House coached two All-Big South players during his one season with the Bulldogs.

Prior to that, House served as a defensive graduate assistant at North Carolina and his alma mater, Michigan State.

"Matt is a detailed coach with a tremendous amount of passion for the game of football," Gill said. "He is also known as a coach that has a great rapport with players."

With the Tar Heels, House coached the defensive backs during individual periods and meetings prior to practice, as well as assisting in the defensive game and practice planning for weekly opponents.

At Michigan State, House served as both a defensive graduate assistant and a special teams/defensive administrative assistant. House worked with both defensive backs and linebackers, while helping prepare game plans for each week.

In his previous coaching duties, House has actively recruited in Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, New York and North Carolina.

House will work closely with R. Tood Littlejohn, who will coach the Bulls' defensive backfield. House and Littlejohn will be working with a defensive unit that finished first in the MAC in pass defense and fourth overall in total defense in 2005.
