BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo head football coach Turner Gill has announced his initial signees for the 2008 recruiting class on the first day of the National Signing period.

The Bulls' rise in 2007, capped by a share of the Mid-American Conference East Division title, drew nationwide attention. As a result Gill's third recruiting class features players from 10 different states, including nine from the football-rich states of Texas, Tennessee and California.

The recruiting class has a defensive feel to it as 14 of the 20 recruits are expected to play on the defensive side of the ball.

“The common characteristic of this recruiting class is that they are a group of talented and physical football players,” said head coach Turner Gill. “During the recruiting process they have also displayed to our coaching staff a sense of maturity and focus.

“The other quality that best represents this class is that most of them came from winning programs,” said Gill. “Our staff is extremely excited about this group of young men and cannot wait to get them on campus.”
