BUFFALO, NY – For a guy that had never set foot in Buffalo, New York before accepting the head coaching job at the University at Buffalo in December, head coach Turner Gill’s first recruiting class has a decidedly Western New York flavor to it.

Headlining a class of 14 players who have signed National Letter of Intents on the first day of the national signing period are three players with strong Buffalo ties – quarterback Naaman Roosevelt, the consensus Western New York Player of the Year, offensive lineman Peter Bittner, the WNY Lineman of the Year, and offensive lineman Brian Kelly, a highly-recruited player from Richmond, VA who just happens to be the nephew of Jim Kelly, the most famous Buffalo Bill of all-time and a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

“This is a quality group of student-athletes that have a passion for the game of football,” said Gill. “They are a physical and athletic group of young men who we look forward to building the foundation of this program with.”

Gill went on to thank his coaching staff by saying, “this football program is so blessed to have such a phenonemal group of coaches at this University. They did an outstanding job of identifying players in such a short period of time.”
