BUFFALO, NY – For the first time in school history, National Football Signing Day will be an event open to the public at the University at Buffalo. Third-year head coach Turner Gill will announce his 2008 recruiting class in an event free to the public at Alumni Arena on Wednesday, February 6 at 6:30 pm. For those who can’t make it to Alumni Arena, the event will be webstreamed live at buffalobulls.com.

Due to NCAA rules, the new recruits are prohibited from attending, but the event will announce the class and show highlights of each of the newest Bulls. During Gill’s two-year coaching tenure, this event has seen the announcement of a number of current Bulls’ starters.

Gill, the 2007 MAC Coach of the Year, has made a splash with his first two recruiting classes. In the Bulls' breakout season of 2007, 12 different players from Gill's first two recruiting classes cracked the starting lineup. In addition, as a true freshman Davonte Shannon (Jeannette, PA/Jeannette) became the first UB player to be named All-MAC First Team. Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Collegiate) and Larry Hutchinson (Seattle, WA/Franklin) earned third-team All-MAC honors.

In addition to the National Signing Day announcements, current members of the UB football team will be on hand to sign autographs, including Shannon, Roosevelt, James Starks (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls), Jeff Niedermier (New Washington, OH/Buckeye Central) and Drew Willy (Randolph, NJ/Randolph).

Schedule of Events

5:45pm: Autograph signing by returning All-MAC players and quarterback Drew Willy.
6:00 pm: Viewing of 2007 highlight film in main arena.
6:30 pm: Turner Gill announces the incoming football recruits for the 2008 class.
7:15 pm: Question and Answer session with Coach Gill.
