BUFFALO, NYJamey Richard (Weston, CT/Weston) has been named an honorable mention All-American by Pro Football Weekly. The Bulls' center becomes the first UB football player to earn All-America honors since the Bulls returned to Division 1A in 1999. He was one of only three players from the Mid-American Conference to be honored by the publication.

In addition, Richard was recently invited to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. He becomes just the second UB football player to be invited to the combine. Former tight end Chad Upshaw participated in the combine last year.

Richard, who was a second-team and academic All-MAC selection, was the anchor of the Bulls’ offensive line. He helped pave the way for an offense that scored a Division I-A-record 291 points, produced the Bulls’ first 1,000-yard rusher in the Division I-A era (James Starks) and protected a quarterback that completed a school-record 258 passes (Drew Willy).

Richard has accepted an invitation to play in the Hula Bowl on January 12 and has also been invited to play in the Texas vs. The Nation All-Star Challenge on February 2.

Richard is also one of 10 players to be named to Phil Steele's All-MAC Team. Safety Davonte Shannon (Jeannette, PA/Jeannette) and defensive end Trevor Scott (Potsdam, NY/Potsdam) earned first-team honors. Richard and linebacker Larry Hutchinson (Seattle, WA/Franklin) were named to the second team. Running back James Starks (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) and guard Jeff Niedermier (New Washington, OH/Buckeye Central) were named to the third team. Quarterback Drew Willy (Randolph, NJ/Randolph), safety Mike Newton (Pasadena, MD/Calvert Hall) and wide receivers Naaman Roosevelt (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph’s Collegiate) and Ernest Jackson (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili) were named honorable mention.
