Lee Chambers enters his third season as UB’s running backs coach and beginning this year he will share special teams duties with Jarod Dodson. Under his guidance, running back James Starks has already set UB’s career rushing record (3,142 yards). Starks became the first 1,000-yard rusher in the Bulls’ Division I-A era and has compiled back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons to become one of the elite backs in the MAC and the nation. Starks is a three-time All-MAC selection, including first team honors in 2008. Chambers first came to Buffalo in 2006 as a graduate assistant on the defensive side of the football. Chambers came to UB from Pikeville College where he worked as the defensive line/strength and conditioning coordinator. He was responsible for recruiting and signing student-athletes from North and South Carolina. Prior to Pikeville, Chambers was at Gardner-Webb University where he spent time as a graduate assistant on the football staff as well as the interim head strength and conditioning coach. As a player, Chambers played two seasons at Pikeville College before transferring to Gardner-Webb and finishing his career with the Runnin’ Bulldogs. He was a four-year starter at left guard. Chambers graduated from Gardner-Webb in 2005 with a degree in sports management. Chambers resides with his wife Francisca. |
