UB Cross Country Places Pair on Academic All-MAC Teams
Jen Jezorski and Andy Leonard selected for league honors
BUFFALO, NY Two University at Buffalo cross country athletes have been named to the
Academic All-Mid-American Conference teams as announced by the league office in Cleveland. Senior
Jen Jezorski (Elmira, NY/Elmira
Southside) was named to the women's team while junior
Andy Leonard (Spencerport,
NY/Churchville-Chili) earned recognition on the men's side. Voting was conducted by
the faculty athletic representatives of the MAC member institutions.
Jen Jezorski | Jezorski, a speech and hearing sciences major with a 3.64 GPA, was UB's top women's
runner throughout the season and was the Bulls' first finisher in all eight of her races in 2005. Jezorski
earned All-MAC honors at the league championships in DeKalb, IL with her 14th-place finish as she
covered the 5K course in a season-best 18:15. She had three top-10 finishes and five within the top 15 during
the season. Jezorski also registered her top 6K time of the season at Lehigh University's Paul Short
Invitational in 21:56 to finish 63rd among a field of 310 runners from the Northeast's top programs.
Jezorski also earned Academic All-MAC accolades in 2004.
Andy Leonard | Leonard, a mechanical engineering major with a 3.43 GPA, had three top-15 finishes in 2005.
He posted his personal-best 8K time with a 25:05 clocking at the Paul Short Invitational, placing
78th among 299 runners. Leonard also finished 23rd at the MAC Championships in 25:55 and UB's
second finisher in the race.
There were 17 women's honorees and 11 men's honorees on the 2005 list. The number is
either set for a specific sport or 33 percent of the number of nominees, whichever is greater. The
Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify,
student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of
the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year
of residence are not eligible for the award.
