Dan McKenna Finishes 12th at IC4A's
BRONX, NY The University at Buffalo men's cross country team finished the 2005 season at the IC4A Championships in Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls competed in the Championship Division of the IC4A meet, one of three separate divisions, and placed 17th of 20 scoring teams with 420 points. Duke won the team title with 98 points. UB junior Dan McKenna (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) was UB's top finisher. McKenna finished 12th in a field of 174 runners in 25:24.8 for the five-mile course. Two more UB runners finished within the top 100 on Saturday. Freshman Dan Healy (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) placed 93rd in 26:40.1 while junior Andy Leonard (Spencerport, NY/Churchville-Chili) was right behind Healy in 26:41.9 to finish 94th. Junior Chris McClure (Trumansburg, NY/Charles O. Dickerson) was 128th in 27:01.2. Sophomore Dan Giza (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) took 142nd place 27:21.0 to close out UB's top five scorers. Senior Matt Moynihan (Rochester, NY/Penfield) finished in 149th position in 27:32.5 while junior David Welby (Somers, NY/Somers) was 156th in 27:42.9. Junior Paul Riley (Buffalo, NY/Canisius) was UB's final runner to cross the finish line on Saturday, taking 166th place in 28:12.9. St. Francis (PA) senior Ryan Sheehan won the individual race in 24:58.9 to finish three seconds ahead of James Madison's C.W. Moran (25:01.6). The Women's ECAC Championships were also held at Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday. UB did not field a team in the competition. UB's cross country runners, as well as the track and field members, turn their sights to the
indoor track season with the first meet, Kent State's Black Squirrel Classic, slated for January 13 and 14, 2006. |
