Kohout Named MAC Runner of the Week

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo cross country senior Kate Kohout (Clarence, NY/Clarence) was named the Mid-American Conference's Women's Runner of the Week. The award was announced by the league office in Cleveland this morning.

Kohout was UB's top finisher at last weekend's Reif Memorial Invitational at Cornell University. The senior finished 10th overall in a field of 40 runners in 19:12 battling a course that needed to be reconfgured due to the heavy rains in Ithaca the night before the race. The time tied her season-best 5K mark which she set on September 12 at the University of Toledo Invitational.

This is the first MAC Runner of the Week award for the Bulls this season.

Kohout and the rest of the Bulls host the 2006 MAC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 28 at Beaver Island State Park on Grand Island. The men's 8K race is slated to begin at 11:00 am with the women's 5K championship following at 12:00 pm.
