Cross Country Weekly Release

MAC Championships Await Bulls

Both Bulls' squads were off last week preparing for this week's all-important Mid-American Conference championships in Kalamazoo, MI, on Saturday.

UB looks to improve on last season's showings at Kent State where the men finished 9th of 12 and the women placed 11th of 13.

Expected to lead the UB men's contingent will be three runners who've put up consistent times this season, Tony David (Lima, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima), Todd Ludden (Hornell, NY/Hornell) and Rick Stewart (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West). All three men posted season-best times at the Paul Short Invitational at Lehigh on October 7. David finished the 10 kilometer course in 25:17.37 while Ludden turned in a 25:40.15 showing and Stewart had a 25:51.19 time. The trio also had identical 26:10.7 times on October 14 in the UB invitational placing second, third and fourth.

UB's women will head to Kalamazoo behind their top three runners Eileen Rose (Latham, NY/Shaker), Danielle Morrell (Oswego, NY/G. Ray Bodley) and Melissa Burrows (Norwood, NY/Norwood-Norfolk). Rose turned in a top time of 19:03.0 in the Fordham Invitational on September 16. Morrell and Burrows put up season-best times at the Western Ontario Invitational the following week. Morrell completed the five kilometers in 18:57 while Burrows finished in 19:15. Rose raced to a 19:12 clocking in the event.
