Wigton Wins MAC Award

BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo cross country athlete Andy Wigton (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena) has been selected by the Mid-American Conference as its Co-Men's Runner of the Week, the league has announced. Wigton shares the award with Miami's David Mitchell.
Wigton earned the recognition thanks to his stellar performance at William and Mary's Tribe Open on October 18. The sophomore won the 8K event in 25:22.57. Wigton took command of the race in the final 800 meters and crossed the finish line ahead of the second-place finisher, unattached runner John McMillian, by six seconds.
The victory by Wigton was his second in as many races after taking top honors at the UB Open on October 11, winning the 8K race in 26:11.7. In six races this season, Wigton has finished in the top 10 three times.
The postseason is ahead for the Bulls as they travel to Akron for the MAC Championship
meet on November 1 in the team's next competition.
