Koeppel Named MAC's Top Runner for Fourth Time This Season
BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo women's cross country athlete Jenny Koeppel (Amherst, NY/Amherst) has been named the Mid-American Conference's Women's Runner of the Week for the fourth time this season. The fourth honor is the most of any MAC athlete this season. Koeppel, a senior, earned this week's award after placing 20th overall in a field of 346 runners at the Penn State National Meet on Saturday. Koeppel turned in a 21:26 clocking on the 6K course, the fastest time by a MAC runner at the meet. The Bulls finished 14th in the 41-team field that included three squads ranked in the FinishLynx national cross country poll. Koeppel has been UB's top finisher in each of her races this year with three victories and a second-place finish thus far. She is the only MAC woman to be named runner of the week more than once this season. The Bulls are next in action on October 30 at the MAC Championships in Toledo, OH.
The Ottawa Park Golf Course that will host the league championship meet is the same course where
Koeppel posted her best collegiate time (17:49 for 5K) on September 23 when she won the Central
Collegiate Invitational, leading the Bulls to the team championship against some of the MAC's top squads. |
