UB Runners Finish Fourth and Fifth in CanadaLONDON, ON - The University at Buffalo men's and women's cross country teams raced Friday afternoon at the 26th Annual Western Ontario Invitational held at the Thames Valley Golf Course in London, Ontario. The Bulls' men's team finished fourth in the 10 kilometer race with 134 total points. West Virginia, the only other U.S. school in the field took the championship with 32 points. UB's women placed fifth with 126 points trailing champion West Virginia who totaled 42 points. UB's top men's finisher was Tony David (Lima, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) placing eighth among the 73 runners entered. David completed the 10K course in 32:25 in the closely contested race. Todd Ludden (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was 13th individually finishing in 33:10. West Virginia's Steve Bohan won the individual title in 32:03. Danielle Morrell (Oswego, NY/G. Ray Bodley) led the women's team crossing the finish line 14th in 18:57 in the women's 5K competition. Eileen Rose (Latham, NY/Shaker) and Melissa Burrows (Norwood, NY/Norwood-Norfolk) were 20th and 21st respectively finishing in 19:12 and 19:15. Beth Wightman of Ontario's Queen's University took top honors winning the race in 17:55. The Bulls return across border but their weekend is not done as UB will be in action on Saturday at the
St. John Fisher Invitational in Rochester. |
