Bulls Post Strong Numbers at Miami Fall Classic

Men place second; women take third in quad-meets

OXFORD, OH - The University at Buffalo’s men’s and women’s cross country teams put up some impressive times Saturday afternoon at the Miami Fall Classic held in Oxford, Ohio. UB’s men placed second with 49 points behind the host RedHawks’ 30. Cumberland College took third with 61 and Akron was fourth with 81. In the women’s meet, UB scored 68 points to finish in third behind Mid-American Conference rivals Miami (23) and Akron (42). Cumberland College was fourth at 120.

Jerimie Slick (Rochester, NY/Greece-Olympia) was second on the 8K course in 24:52. Senior Todd Ludden (Hornell, NY/Hornell) took fourth in 24:54 and senior Rick Stewart (West Seneca, NY/West Seneca West) finished seventh in 25:12. Miami’s Rick Padgett took the individual title in 24:46, defeating Slick by six seconds.

Melissa Burrows (Norwood, NY/Norwood-Norfolk) complete the 5K distance in 18:26 to take sixth place overall.  Juniors Jessica Moldovan (Warren, PA/.Warren Area) and Christina Keck (Erie, PA/McDowell) finished 13th and 16th , respectively. Moldovan crossed the finish line in 18:57 with Keck clocking in at 19:24. Akron’s Adriana Zalucka blitzed the course in 17:21 to take top individual honors.
