UB Runners Place At Ram InvitationalBRONX, NY - The University at Buffalo women's and men's cross country teams placed third and fourth respectively in Saturday's Ram Cross Country Invtiational hosted by Fordham University and held at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx. The Bulls women scored 93 points to place third behind a pair of Ivy League squads, Yale, with a winning total of 17 and Cornell at 38. UB finished ahead of Fordham (123), Columbia (127) and Long Island (188). The men's squad scored 104 points earning fourth place trailing Cornell (15) and the second place tie between Fordham and Rutgers (87 each). UB placed in front of Southern Connecticut at 117 and Connecticut at 122. The Bulls' top women's finisher was Eileen Rose (Latham, NY/Shaker) who finished the 5 kilometer course in 19:03.0 to place 13th individually. Danielle Morrell (Oswego, NY/G. Ray Bodley) was 18th in 19:14.9 and Christina Keck (Erie, PA/McDowell) was 23rd in 19:32.3. Yale runners dominated the field with the Bulldogs taking five of the top six spots. Kate O'Neil won the race in 18:01.2 beating out twin sister Laura who crossed the line in 18:02.3. Todd Ludden (Hornell, NY/Hornell) was the first UB men's runner across the tape placing ninth in 26:05.9 for the 8 kilometers. Tony David (Lima, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) finished right behind Ludden in 10th at 26:12.9. Cornell grabbed the top eight spots en route to their team victory with Max King taking the individual honors in 25:28.1. The Bulls will race twice next weekend with some runners competing at the Western Ontario
Invitational in London, Ontario on Friday Sept. 22 and others racing at the St. John Fisher Invitational in Rochester on
Saturday Sept. 23. |
