Bulls' Cross Country Opens at AkronBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo's men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2002 season at the Tommy Evans Invitational in Akron, OH. UB's men placed third in the four-team meet with 45 points, narrowly falling to Ohio State (41) and Kent State (43). Akron was fourth at 97 points. In the women's race, UB placed fourth in the four-team field with 78 points. Akron took first place with 32 points while Kent State (42) and Ohio State (66) placed second and third respectively.
Leading the UB women was senior Melissa Burrows (Norwood, NY/Norwood-Norfolk) as she completed the 5,000-meter women's course in 18:54 to finish fourth overall. Akron's Adriana Zalucka was the individual winner in 18:43. Freshman Lindon Wilcox (Albion, NY/Albion) and senior Christina Keck (Erie, PA/McDowell) were UB's next two finishers, placing 16th (19:33) and 17th (19:41) respectively. The Bulls are next in action at the Miami Fall Classic in Oxford, OH on September 21. |
