Chris “Mac” McClure enters his third year on the coaching staff with the University at Buffalo cross country and track and field programs after completing five years as a student-athlete with the Bulls. In the fall 2006 season, McClure sustained an injury which required surgery but led him to volunteer as an assistant coach for the indoor and outdoor track and field programs at UB. With collegiate coaching being his career objective, McClure emphatically joins the rest of the coaching staff on their mission of continued success for the Bulls. A five-time co-captain of the men’s cross country and track and field teams, McClure’s extensive team leadership involvement has stemmed out to other factions of the Division of Athletics as well as UB’s general student population where he served as a Resident and Community Advisor/Assistant for two and a half years as an undergraduate. McClure’s athletic achievements included two berths in the IC4A Indoor Championships (Distance Medley Relay in 2005 and 2006, 1,000-meters in 2006), helping set UB’s DMR school record as the leadoff runner in the event. McClure also earned the Coaches Award for cross country in 2005 and 2007, as well as the 2007 Christine Dickerson Unsung Hero Award. The Dickerson Award is presented annually by UB’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to recognize an individual who makes a significant contribution on the court, field or in the pool and is recognized for their dedication, unselfishness and contribution to the team. McClure graduated from the University at Buffalo with a Bachelor of Arts degree in media studies in 2007.
