Bulls Compete At Syracuse Invitational

UB Varsity Four G boat takes first place

SYRACUSE, NY – The UB women’s rowing team headed to the Syracuse Invitational on Saturday as the Bulls picked up one first-place finish and a third-place finish against competition from Syracuse, Cornell, Colgate and Marist.

UB Varsity Four G boat, which was in the second flight of four boats, took their race at a time of 23:55.4. The boat, which consisted of coxswain Britt Marshall, Samantha Barrett, Stephanie Szymanski, Rebecca Rayter and Rachel Cuthbert finished in front of a Syracuse and a Cornell Boat. The Bulls then took the next three spots claiming four of the top six spots in the race.

In the first flight, UB’s Varsity Four A boat finished in third place as the boat of coxswain Alison Sheehan, Rosa Kemp, Danielle Carlino, Tara Rudkoski and Sasha Bailey clocked in at 21:35.0, 13 seconds behind second-place Syracuse. Cornell had the top time at 21:08.1.

UB also had three boats in the Novice Eight race as the Bulls’ A boat finished in fourth place, while the other two boats picked up sixth and seventh place finishes.

The Bulls wrap up their fall season on Nov. 14 when they head to Boston, MA for the Foot of the Charles Regatta.
