Bulls Compete At Head Of The Fish Regatta

UB finishes with two first place finishes

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY – The University at Buffalo rowing team traveled to the Head of the Fish Regatta on Sunday afternoon, finishing with two first place finishes on the day. UB also claimed one second place finish.

UB’s Lightweight Four boat, which consisted of coxswain Britt Marshall (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda), Margaret Surrena (Vestal, NY/Vestal), Gina Giammichele (Binghamton, NY/Binghamton), Breana Limina (Wheatfield, NY/Niagara-Wheatfield) and Antonette Backert (Lakeview, NY/Mount Mercy Academy) finished in first at 14:28.62, which was almost a minute better than Massachusetts, which finished second in the race.

Also finishing in first was UB’s Junior Varsity Eight boat. In that boat were coxswain Kate Evely (Brockville, Ontario/Brockville), Lindsay DiCosimo (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul), Megan Bayley (St. Catherines, Ontario/Governor Simcoe), Jordan Talbott (Dumfreis, VA/Forest Park), Shenita McClean (Buffalo, NY/Leonardo DaVinci), Thandiwe Price (Springfield Gardens, NY/Frank Sinatra School For The Arts), Patricia Arcuri (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul), Ewelina Kotowska(East Meadow, NY/East Meadow) and Samantha Masucci (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) and the crew finished in 12:41.94, which was about four second better than the second place boat from Williams College.

UB also had a second place finish with its Lightweight boat finishing just five seconds behind Massachusetts. The Bulls’ Novice Four boat finished in third place, while UB had fifth and seventh place finishes in the Novice Eight race.

The Bulls will be back in action on Saturday when they head to the Syracuse Invitational.
