Bulls Sweep Against Holy Cross And Boston College

UB wins all four races on the afternoon

WORCHESTER, MA – The University at Buffalo rowing team had an impressive day on Saturday as the Bulls won all three races against competition from Holy Cross and Boston College. The three teams met on Lake Quinsigamond with UB winning races at Varsity Eight, Second Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Frosh/Novice Eight.

The Varsity Eight boat won its race in 7:07 as it defeated both Boston College and Holy Cross. BC finished in second at 7:20. The boat had coxswain Alison Sheehan and rowers Lauren Sexton, Melina DiCosimo, Tara Rudkoski, Bridget Yannes, Ashley Hanhurst, Sasha Bailey, Sam Masucci and Cathleen Streicher. The squad was coming off a strong performance at the CAA Championships and the Kerr Cup last weekend.

Also finishing with a huge victory was the Frosh/Novice Eight boat, who won its race by 23 seconds. The boat, which consisted of coxswain Tarynn Weightman, Stephanie Szymanski, Samantha Barrett, Alexandra Condon, Jacklyn Postulka, Megan Mills, Rebecca Rayter, Rachel Cuthbert and Lauren Weeks, finished in 8:04, ahead of Boston College at 8:27. Also scoring victories for the Bulls were the Varsity Four boat, who beat Boston College by five second, and the Second Varsity Eight boat, which defeated Holy Cross by three seconds and Boston College in five seconds.

The race was UB’s final preparation for the Dad Vail Regatta, which begins on Friday, May 8. The Bulls will be looking to defend their overall points title from last season.
