BLOOMINGTON, IN – The University at Buffalo rowing team claimed the Harvey Cup for the fourth straight season as the Bulls put up impressive results on Saturday against Eastern Michigan and Indiana. UB finished first or second in all three of its races on the day.

The Bulls had some early adversity as an illness forced key members of UB’s Varsity Eight boat to miss the race. However, the Bulls combined member of their Second Varsity Eight Boat with their first squad for today’s race. The Bulls finished second in the race, just five seconds behind Indiana, and defeated Eastern Michigan by 15 and a half second for the Harvey Cup. The Varsity Eight boat consisted of coxswain Britt Marshall, Lauren Sexton, Melina DiCosimo, Lindsay DiCosimo, Bridgett Yannes, Ashley Hanhurst, Amanda Garbacz, Morgan Witte and Brittany Ronald. The crew led Indiana for much of the first 1,000 meters of the race.

In the Varsity Four race, UB claimed both first and second place as the Varsity Four squad finished in 8:07.2 and the Second Varsity Squad finished at 8:12.8. The first Varsity Four boat consisted of coxswain Kate Evely, Patricia Arcuri, Megan Bayley, Jacklyn Postulka and Mary Karl. Indiana finished third in that race at 8:32.0.

Also finishing in second place was UB’s Novice Eight boat, which finished four seconds behind Indiana. The Bulls led the race for the first 1,500 meters before the Hoosiers pulled ahead in the last 500 meters.
