Barnes Named Crew CoachBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo has announced the hiring of Meg Barnes as its new head crew coach. Barnes comes to UB from Buffalo's West Side Rowing Club, where she had coached since 1997. Her responsibilities with the club included coaching its high school program, learn to row program, adult recreational program and pre-season intermediate program. Among her accomplishments was leading the club to a pair of gold medals at this year's Canadian National Recreational Championships. Barnes has also achieved success as a competitor, winning a silver medal at the 1998 Ontario Regionals and bronze medals at the 1998 Canadian Nationals and the 1999 U.S. Nationals. She is a member of both the West Side Rowing Club and the U.S. Rowing Association. A native of Buffalo, Barnes graduated from UB in 1986. She went on to receive a Masters degree from St. Bonaventure University in 1997. |
