Bulls Finish 32nd At Head Of The Charles

Princeton places two boats in the top three

CAMBRIDGE, MA- The University at Buffalo women’s crew team sent one boat to compete in the Head of the Charles this past weekend. The Bulls competed in the Championship Women’s Eight race, finishing in an adjusted time of 17:16.398, which was good enough for 32nd place.

Last year's winner, Princeton, came out of the weekend as the big winners in the Championship Eight race, as its US Rowing Training Center crew took first and its women's collegiate squad placed third. Last season, the UB Championship Eight squad placed 36th in a grueling and competitive field.

Members of the boat included: Coxswain Sheralyn Briggs (St. Catharines, Ontario/West Park), Corinne Blum (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland), Melina DiCosimo (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul), Nicole Cyr (Groton, NY/Dryden), Jessica Hughes (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Amanda MacKeigan (Brockville, Ontario/Brockville Collegiate Institute), Bridget Yannes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Holy Cross), Lauren Sexton (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul) and Amanda Garbacz (St. Catharines, Ontario/Dennis Morris).

The squad is next slated to compete at the Head of the Fish at Saratoga Springs on Saturday, Oct. 28.
