YPSILANTI, MI ­ The University at Buffalo and Eastern Michigan renewed their Harvey Cup rivalry with the Eagles taking three of four races, including the Harvey Cup race, the varsity eight, to retain the title.

The lone Bulls' victory came in the novice eight race as UB crossed the finish line in 6:53.41, nearly 20 seconds better than EMU (7:12.25). The UB shell consisted of coxswain Margaret Devendorf (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), stroke seat Maggie Fairgrieve (Fort Erie, Ontario/Lakeshore Catholic), seventh seat Paige Baritot (Orchard Park, NY/Buffalo Seminary), sixth seat Mia Pavletic (Grand Rapids, MI/Forest Hills Central), fifth seat Jackie Stone (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham), fourth seat Jill Harclerode (Portland, OR/Westview), third seat Jessica Hughes (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), second seat Darcie Bryant (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) and bow seat Crystal Byrnes (Ballston Spa, NY/Saratoga Springs).

In the closest finish of the four races, UB's lightweight four squad fell to EMU by less than two seconds. UB finished in 7:29.31 to the Eagles' 7:27.56. The UB crew included coxswain Abbie Potts (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), stroke seat Katie Barnum (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa), third seat Karen Corey (Kingston, NY/Kingston), second seat Caitlin Hambridge (Amherst, NY/Holy Angels), and bow seat Beth Gaworecki (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker).

In the Harvey Cup race between the varsity eights, UB finished in 6:43.04 to Eastern Michigan's 6:34.07. UB's lineup consisted of coxswain Sher Briggs (St. Catharines, Ontario/West Park SS), stroke seat Tara Celestini (St. Catharines, Ontario/Sir Winston Churchill), seventh seat Corinne Blum (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland), sixth seat Kasey Hansen (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima), fifth seat Nicole Cyr (Groton, NY/Dryden), fourth seat Deanna Knighton (Angola, NY/Lake Shore), third seat Chandra Hazey (Riverview, MI/Riverview), second seat Kali Spoto (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland) and bow seat Natalie Pugliese (Niagara Falls, Ontario/St. Paul's).

The second varsity eight also fell to the Eagles as they finished the 2,000-meter course in 6:48.86, seven seconds behind EMU's 6:41.85. The UB entry included coxswain Caitlin Logue (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy), stroke seat Michelle Schwach (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy), seventh seat Kat Vossler (Jamestown, NY/Falconer), sixth seat Alexis Grates (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), fifth seat Bonnie McVicker (Syracuse, NY/C.W. Baker), fourth seat Jessica Barrell (Buffalo, NY/Nardin Academy), third seat Emilee Norris (Cheektowaga, NY/Cheektowaga), second seat Lindsey Yonko (Apalachin, NY/Vestal) and bow seat Jacquie Zehler (Alden, NY/Attica).

The Bulls travel to Worcester, MA for next weekend's Metro Championships. UB finished fifth in last season's overall team standings at the meet.
