UB Crew Meets MercyhurstBUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo women's varsity and novice crews had their best showing of the season as they rowed against Mercyhurst at Finley Lake, NY this past weekend. The highlight of the Regatta was the novice eight race. Taking control of the race at 500 meters, Buffalo moved away leading by eight seconds at 1000 meters. The UB crew finished winning by five lengths. The varsity eight put in a strong performance over the 2000 meter course. Rowing even for much of the first 600 meters, the Mercyhurst crew began to take over the lead and pulled away in the last 1000 meters to finish 13 seconds ahead of the second place Bulls. In the varsity four race, Mercyhurst lead from the start and outrowed Buffalo to finish several lengths ahead. In the novice four race, the Bulls began to pull even midway through the race and both crews rowed even to the finish. Mercyhurst was awarded the victory by a mere nine-tenths of a second.
