CAMDEN, NJ – Despite dealing with grueling crosswinds on both Saturday and Sunday, the University at Buffalo rowing squad made a splash at the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ, reaching the grand final in three of the four races competed in. The Second Varsity Eight boat pulled away with the team's only first-place medal, finishing ahead of 17 other boats represented by schools such as Colgate, UMass, and Dayton.

The rest of the boat consisted of Chandra Hazey (Riverview, MI/Riverview), Bonnie McVicker (Syracuse, NY/C.W. Baker), Joanne Olsen (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), Jessica Hughes (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool), Jackie Stone (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham), Nicole Cyr (Groton, NY/Dryden), Alexis Grates (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), and Karen Corey (Kingston, NY/Kingston).

In the fifth event of the cup, the Novice Four race was cancelled due to weather conditions. The UB boat unofficially placed second out of six boats, crossing the finish line behind Carnegie Mellon by four seconds.
