Rowing Claims Third At San Diego Crew Classic

In the morning's "B' preliminary race, Buffalo crossed the finish line in a time of 7:05.89, which was a whole eight seconds better than the second-place team, Temple, that made a time of 7:13.11. The competing eight boat for the Bulls was raced by coxswain Sher Briggs (St. Catharines, Ont./West Park), stroke-seat Corinne Blum (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford-Sutherland), seven-seat Melina DiCosimo (Niagara Falls, Ont./St. Paul), six-seat Lauren Sexton (Niagara Falls, Ont./St. Paul), five-seat Amanda Garbacz (St. Catharines, Ont./Dennis Morris), four-seat Tara Rudkoski (Merrick, NY/Calhoun), three-seat Bridget Yannes (Edgewater Park, NJ/Holy Cross), two-seat Jackie Stone (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham), and bow-seat Jessica Hughes (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool).

After having qualified for the Women's Cal Cup Final, the Bulls took the waters once again in the afternoon. Preseeded second before the day started, the Bulls took on St. Joseph's, UC-Davis, St. Mary's, Kansas St., and Temple. UB clocked in at a time of 7:24.74, which was good enough for third place behind UC-Davis (7:20.49) and St. Joseph's (7:23.20).

With the season now underway, the Bulls next race at the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ the weekend of April 14-15.
