Head rowing coach Rudy Wieler announced the addition of 15 student-athletes who will be joining UB in the fall. The 15 student-athletes all have previous rowing experience and will join a UB team that is coming off its second straight championship at the Dad Vail Regatta. Seven members of the University at Buffalo rowing squad were named Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athletes for the 2009 season. To qualify for this honor, a student must meet all eligibility rules as defined by her institution, have completed at least one year of eligibility and must have rowed in her institution’s NCAA eligible boats for a minimum of 75 percent of her school’s spring races. Most importantly, all eligible student-athletes must have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average.

The University at Buffalo rowing team capped of its most successful season in program history as it claimed its second straight Jack and Nancy Seitz Trophy as the overall women’s point champions of the Dad Vail Regatta. The University at Buffalo rowing team had an excellent first day at the Dad Vail Regatta on Friday as they look to defend their title as overall point champions. Due to weather conditions, the races today were 1,500 meter time trials, but that didn’t prevent the Bulls from a first place finish and two second place finishes. In all, four of the five UB boats moved into tomorrow’s semifinal and finals round. More...
