Andrew Wieler joined the UB staff in 2004 after a four-year career at Boston’s Northeastern University. His main focus this season will be on the development of the freshmen squad. During the 2006-07 season, Wieler led the freshman squad to many eye-popping finishes, including a third place finish at the Knecht Cup. In 2005-06, Wieler coached the freshmen squad which finished second at the Knecht Cup in the Freshman 8, first in the Harvey Cup in the Freshman 4+, and first in the Metro championship in the Varsity 4+. Wieler also coached the JV 8 to a First place finish at the Dad Vail regatta winning the school’s second championship at the Dad Vail since rowing became a varsity sport at UB in 1997. The freshmen squad completed a very successful season with four of the athletes competing in the Dad Vail winning JV 8. Wieler is also a multiple champion in both sweep and sculling competitions in the United States National championships and the Canadian Henley, rowing with the Ridley Graduate Boat Club and the St. Catharines Rowing Club. As a former rower turned coach, Wieler uses his rowing experience to
make his squad as strong as it can be and one which will take on
anyone! |
