Q & A with Craig Guest
Football - 1993-1996

How do you feel that your experiences as a student-athlete at the University at Buffalo prepared you for life after college?

“While I was a student-athlete at UB, time management was a huge factor.  Trying to balance sports and class work definitely helped me prepare for life after UB.  Being a father now, time management is a huge part of my regular work day.  Now, instead of sports and class, it has shifted to work and family.  Without going through that at UB it may have been a tougher adjustment for me.”

What does your connection with the BLOCK B Letter Winners Association mean to you?

“My connection with the BLOCK B means so much. Having the opportunity to get back together with my teammates and friends who played other sports is really great. From having spent so much time with my teammates who were like family while I was at UB makes it seem like coming home when I get back to campus.”

As a BLOCK B member, what would you suggest/recommend to other former student-athletes who have yet to join this elite group of supporters?

“I would suggest that they join and reconnect with friends, teammates and family that they spent so much time with, spilled so much blood with, and shed so many tears with. It makes the memories so much sweeter now that you can reconnect with your UB family.”

What was your most memorable moment/event as a UB student-athlete?

“I have so many memories from UB that it makes this such a hard question to answer. I mean, from being a two-time All American, setting numerous school records that stood for over a decade, being named team MVP on the 1996 team that went 8-3. There were so many of my teammates that could have had that honor bestowed upon them. Probably the one that is most important to me was being named captain of the 1996 team, despite the objections from certain members of the coaching staff. That honor was picked by my teammates. They were the people that knew me the best. Knew how hard I worked to help my team and to make myself a better person on and off the field. Being picked by my “family” in such a team sport meant to me that they recognized and acknowledged my hard work and determination. I’ll always remember them for that.”

“I am currently working as a rehab/fitness specialist for Physical Synergy in Fairfield, CT. I live in New Haven with my wife Stacy and two boys, Craig Jr. who will be 3 in January and Maddox, who is 5 months old."
