UB Baseball Signs Two Players

Breene Adds Pitcher and JUCO All-American to Bulls' Squad

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's baseball team has signed two players for this upcoming school year, Michael Leslie (Suffern, NY/Suffern), a freshman pitcher and Jeff Sargent (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island), a junior outfielder who transfered from Erie Community College.

Sargent was named as an NJCAA First-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball for his performance last year at ECC. He was also named a first team Region III player and named the Region III Player of the Year. He set numerous school hitting records, including the single season record for home runs last year with 13. Sargent helped lead the team to a 37-14 record and advanced to the NJCAA World Series where they finished fourth in the nation.

Leslie is a 6-5 right hander who can also play first base. Last season he finished with a 5-2 record and a 1.87 ERA. Over his last two seasons he helped lead the Mounties to a combined 43-10 record and the Section 1, Division A championship his junior year. He was named an All-Section player his senior year and was named to the Rockland Journal News second team all-county. Leslie had as much success in the classroom as on the field as he received three scholar athlete awards from different organizations.
