Five Bulls Named Summer League All-Stars

UB all-stars span across three different summer leagues

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo baseball team had five players make the all-star game of their respective summer leagues this year as each player is having outstanding seasons for their teams.

In the New England Collegiate Baseball League pitcher Zach Anderson (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and Jacob Rosenbeck (Medina, NY/Medina) each made the all-star team representing the Pittsfield Dukes. Anderson has been nearly unhittable for the Dukes this season as he has not allowed an earned run in 21.1 innings of work. He has recorded 19 strikeouts and batters are hitting just .162 off of him this year. Rosenbeck is currently fourth on the team with a .324 batting average as he has started in all 30 games he has played. Rosenbeck is second on the team with 25 runs batted in and his eight doubles are tied for second on the team.

Brad Agustin (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) is also having a great summer league season as he currently leads the Morganton Aggies of the Southern Collegiate League, where he was named an all-star. Agustin leads the team with a .427 batting average, six home runs and 41 runs batted in.

Adam Skonieczki (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) and Mike Stangroom (Falston, MD/Calvert Hall) both made the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League All-Star Game as they are representing the Maryland Redbirds. Skonieczki is hitting a team-leading .345 as he has started in all 35 games for the Redbirds. His 41 hits and four home runs are also tops on the team. Stangroom, who was a second-team All-MAC selection this past spring, has a 3.50 ERA in 43.2 innings of work. Stangroom has a team-leading 39 strikeouts and opponents are batting .251 off of him.

All five of these players will return to the team for the upcoming 2009 season.
