Bobby Pizzuto Named Ping! Baseball Freshman All-American

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo outfielder Bobby Pizzuto (Mentor, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral) earned his first Freshman All-America honor after being named to the All Ping! Baseball Freshman Team. Pizzuto received a third team selection to the inaugural squad selected by pingbaseball.com, a national website devoted to college baseball.

Pizzuto finished second on the team with a .314 batting average and 26 runs batted in. Pizzuto had a team-high 14-game hitting streak during the season and had 11 multi-hit games, which were tied for tops on the team. His six three-hit games were second on the squad.

Pizzuto helped lead the Bulls to their most successful Mid-American Conference season ever, registering 11 conference victories and finishing with a seventh place finish in the MAC. UB just missed making the six-team conference tournament for the first time in school history.
