Bulls Head Around the Country for Summer Baseball

Six players to compete in the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League

BUFFALO, NY – With their 2008 college season complete, members of the University at Buffalo baseball team are now in the process of scattering around the country, heading to their various summer league destinations.

The most popular destination for Bulls this summer is the Cal Ripken Sr. Collegiate Baseball League, as six players will spend their summer in the Maryland and Virginia based league. Jeffrey Hains (Mexico, NY/Mexico) will be with the Rockville Express and Chaz Mye (North Tonawanda, NY/St. Joseph's) will play for Youse's Maryland Orioles while four players, including All-MAC Second Team selection and Maryland-native Mike Stangroom (Fallston, MD/Calvert Hall), will play for the Maryland Redbirds. Joining Stangroom will be Kevin McCall (Chagrin Falls, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral), James Piazza (Amherst, NY/Williamsville North) and Adam Skonieczki (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott).

Zach Anderson (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and Jacob Rosenbeck (Medina, NY/Medina) will also spend the summer as teammates, they will play for the Pittsfield Dukes in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.

A trio of Bulls will spend the summer as teammates in the Walter Johnson League, based in Wichita, Kansas. Dan Francis (East Amherst, NY/Clarence), Charlie Karstedt (Eden, NY/Eden) and Brian Randazzo (St. Charles, MO/St. Charles) will spend the summer together playing for the Wichita Wheatkings.

Another Bull headed to the Sunflower State is outfielder/pitcher Chris Ciesla (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott). Ciesla is slated to play for the Dodge City A's in the Jayhawk Baseball League, one of the oldest and most prestigious summer leagues in the country.

Four other players are also scheduled to spend their summer playing in various leagues across the United States and Canada. Brad Agustin (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East), who missed Buffalo's 2008 season due to injury, will play this summer for the Morganton Aggies of the Southern Collegiate Baseball League. Eric Flynn (Niagara Falls, NY/Niagara Falls) will play in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League, while pitchers Eric Kline (Mt. Olive, NJ/Mt. Olive) and Jesse Reinstein (Thornhill, Ontario/Westmount Collegiate) will stay close to home to play their summer ball. Kline will spend the summer in his home state of New Jersey with the Jersey Pilots of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League and Reinstein, a Toronto-area native, will pitch for the Hamilton Thunderbirds of the Intercounty Baseball League.
