Bulls Take Two Of Three From Bowling Green The University at Buffalo baseball team kept its playoff hopes alive by taking two of three games from Bowling Green this past weekend. The Bulls used a late comeback as they scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning on Friday to take a 2-1 victory over the Falcons. After putting forth a valiant effort on Saturday, scoring five runs in the ninth inning, UB fell short by losing 9-7. In the rubber game on Sunday, UB used an offensive explosion as they defeated BGSU, 14-3, scoring 12 unanswered runs in the game.
Playoff Chase Comes Down To Final Weekend With the Mid-American Conference schedule coming down to just three more games, UB and Toledo are in the hunt for the final playoff spot in the six-team field. Toledo currently leads UB by one game, but holds the tie breaker due to its series victory in April. In order to make their first ever trip to the MAC Tournament, the Bulls must either sweep Kent State this weekend and have Toledo win no more than one game in its series against Northern Illinois or UB must take two of three from the Golden Flashes, while Toledo gets swept by Northern Illinois. Folli Still Leading The Way Junior Mike Folli (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) continues to lead the team with a .364 batting average. Folli leads UB with 64 hits, 13 doubles and 12 stolen bases. Folli has seen action in each of UB’s 45 games this season.
Bulls Perfect When Scoring 10 or More The Bulls are 5-0 in games where they score at least 10 runs in a contest. UB tied its season high for runs in a game with 14 in its victory over Bowling Green. The Bulls scored 14 runs in their season-opening victory at Delaware State. Earlier this season, the Bulls scored 12 runs in victories over Akron and Miami (OH) and 13 runs in a win over Ohio. On Deck
The Bulls return to Amherst Audubon Field one more time this season as they host a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. UB will then embark on its final regular-season road trip as it heads to Kent State for a three-game series. The Bulls will be looking to make their first ever trip to the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The schedule will be a little different this weekend as the series will start at 3:00 pm on Thursday with a 300 pm start also set for Friday and a 1:00 pm game scheduled for Sunday. |
