Bulls Fall in Home Finale to Bowling Green Honor eight seniors in conference weekend series finale BUFFALO, NY – Facing a 2-0 series deficit, the University at Buffalo baseball team fell 15-7 to Bowling Green in their home finale at the Amherst Audubon Field on Sunday afternoon.. The day celebrated the careers of seniors Zach Anderson, Chris Ciesla, Eric Flynn, Dan Francis, Devin Greeno, James Piazza, Brian Randazzo and Mike Stangroom.
The Bulls answered back by cutting the Falcons' lead in half to 2-1 in the bottom of the second as River McWilliams poked an RBI double down the right-field line. In the top of the third, the Falcons extended their lead to 6-1 with their first of two consecutive four-run innings.
In the bottom of the seventh, Rob Lawler drove in Brad Agustin with an RBI-single through the left side to chisel away at the Falcons’ lead 11-5. The Bulls added a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings including an RBI-triple down the right-field line by McWilliams to score the Bulls’ final run of the afternoon to cut the Falcons’ lead down to 15-7.
Anderson (4-6) recorded the loss for the Bulls in 4.0 innings of work, striking out three Falcons. The Bulls (20-31, 6-17 MAC) will finish the 2009 season on the road as they travel to Athens, OH to face Mid-American Conference opponent Ohio on May 14-16. Game one is scheduled for Thursday, May 14 with the first pitch set for 6:00 pm.
