Bulls Drop Second Game of Series to Bowling Green Karstedt collects sixth triple of the season BUFFALO, NY –The University at Buffalo baseball team dropped the second game of their conference home series versus Bowling Green, 13-3 at the Amherst Audubon Field on Saturday afternoon. For the duration of the contest, the teams faced constant winds of 30 mph with gusts reaching in excess of 45 mph.
Trailing 7-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Brad Agustin and Charlie Karstedt started the Bulls off with back-to-back doubles to put the Bulls on the base. The Bulls went on the board off a ground out to short by Rob Lawler to drive in Agustin from third.
In the bottom of the eighth, Karstedt slid an RBI-triple down the left-field line to cut the Falcons’ lead down to 12-3, scoring Agustin who previously reached on a bloop single to right field. Agustin went 2-for-4 with a team-high two runs scored. Karstedt went 2-for-4 including a double and a triple with one RBI.
In 5.0 innings of work, starter Mike Stangroom (3-3) recorded the loss for the Bulls while striking out five batters. The Bulls (20-30, 6-16 MAC) will return to Amherst Audubon Field for last time in the 2009 season as they face Bowling Green in the conference weekend series finale on Sunday, May 10 with the first pitch set for 1:00 pm. The day will mark Senior Day for eight Bulls as they compete in their last home game in the blue and white.
