Bulls Pick Up First Ever Win Against Miami The Bulls finished their past week with a 3-3 record, capped off by their first ever victory against Miami (OH). The Bulls began the week as they dropped a 12-2 decision to Niagara, but came back to win both games of a doubleheader against Canisius. UB won the first game in 10 innings. After falling in an extra-inning contest to Miami (OH) in the series opener, UB fell 7-0 in the second game played between the two teams. However, UB used a six-run first inning in the final game of the series, defeating the RedHawks by a score of 12-8. Extra, Extra, Read All About It After two more extra-inning affairs this past week, the Bulls have now gone into extra innings seven times this season. The Bulls have a record of 3-4 in the extra frame, including conference victories against Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan, both in 12 innings. The longest game UB has played all season was a 14-inning marathon against LeMoyne. Scheduled to be just a seven inning game, the two teams played seven extra innings before LeMoyne walked away with a 6-5 victory.
Folli Still Leading The Way Junior Mike Folli (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) continues to lead the team with a .372 batting average. His average shot up 21 points following a week where he hit .563 with nine hits. He went 4-for-6 in UB’s victory over Miami (OH) with a single, two doubles and a triple. We’re Going Streaking Freshman Bobby Pizzuto (Mentor, OH/Notre Dame Cathedral) has his season-long hitting streak up to 12 games, the longest by a UB player this season. During that streak, Pizzuto has hit .453 with 24 hits in 53 at bats. He has three doubles and two triples, while driving in a team-high 14 runs over that stretch. Since moving to the second spot in the batting order, Pizzuto is batting .373 in 19 games. On Deck
The Bulls hit the road for six of their final eight games, including two key conference series, this upcoming weekend at Bowling Green and the final weekend of the season at Kent State. In between that time, UB will host a doubleheader against St. Bonaventure on May 15 at 1:00 pm. This weekend, the Bulls and Falcons will square off on Friday at 3:00 pm and on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm.
